STRANGE & WONDERFUL

DO YOU LOVE HATS?!!

I love hats, but I never seem to wear them enough. Recently I was contracted to create a red denim cap for a friend. She loved the hat, and I also included a line of very cool accessories she could change the look of the hat depending on her mood and/or outfit. Here's the finished product.

I also expanded the use of the accessories to perform "double duty" - not having to be worn on the hat. Yes, they can be worn individually as jewelry and hair accessories! This may not be a first in the way of novel ideas, as I've been creating this kind of dual accessorizing for many years - some others may have as well. But it goes to show you - do what you know and stick with it. Just bring it in line with today's trends. Happy hat wearing! :0)

Artful Bras

ARTFUL BRAS
My dear friend Cinde in Sac. invited me to enter a project to benefit Breast Cancer research by creating one-of-a-kind Artful Bras. The art auction of these bras is happening May 22, in Loomis, CA. I was so thrilled to complete two bras and got them in to be auctioned at this worthy event. Before I began creating my bras, I took a look at some previous entries. They are so cool and very creative. Here's my two entries, as well as last year's entries.

My Hello Hollywood Bra

I didn't want to give up my Hollywood brooch so I ended up finding a great replacement in a souvenir shop.

My Mardi Gras Bra

Here's are some of last year's entries - cool!

I must have these lace Spats!!

SEX AND THE CITY 2!!!

Are you as excited as I am for this movie...oh my gosh, the clothes these ladies are wearing are knocking my socks off. There's this one dress Samatha is wearing; it's brown and has beading and cut outs...I cannot wait to see it. I hope their girl Patricia Field is providing their costumes for this movie too. If she isn't I'd be surprised. Can't wait to see it on the big screen.

SHOE PARADE

Things sure have changed in the last 5 years....:0)

Do you recognize these shoes? Would you wear them? I don't know all the names of the designers of these shoes.

I just think they're..P-R-E-T-T-Y and interesting.

What will you be wearing next season?

FASHION ICONS

STYLE ICON & PIONEER

Mrs. Eunice Johnson of Johnson Publishing passed away in Jan. this year. She was the epitome of grace and style, and was a pioneer in bringing Haute Couture to Black culture. She and her late husband, John, may rest in peace knowing that their heir, Linda Johnson Rice, will keep their legacy in tact for many, many years to come.
NAOMI SIMS - AMERICA'S TOP MODEL

I remember when I was a little girl, we would read Ebony magazines at relative's and friend's homes. I loved seeing these gorgeous black models on page after page.
Naomi Sims was the first Black top model (1960's) who launched a successful cosmetics line and was the author of 5 beauty books. Ms. Sims passed away on August 1st 2009. I wanted to pay my respects to a fabulous woman, role model and pioneer. You will never be forgotten.

Black America never looked better!

Where does the time go?

It's been a year and my poor little blog is lonely. I've changed the name and the game, and now "Kiss Kiss" Designs is making its debut. (Cool "C" image by The Paper Nut).

It's like that classic Quincy Jones song, "Everything Must Change"...so very true. It's 2010 and I've changed as well as all things around me.

Most people say "Change" is good, and I guess I agree with that. It's all very subjective anyway. Sometimes it's nice to keep the same things in place, it provides stability, safety and comfort. Isn't everything about comfort these days?

The rebel in me likes to shake things up (a bit), and the nurturing goddess in me wants to hold on tight to all that I feel comfortable knowing and seeing in my little world.

But in the world we live in...everything changes every day. What was in yesterday; is out today. Who you were married to last week; you're now divorcing. One day you're employed; the next minute you're let go. This is life, and we all have to make the best of it..as best we can.

So..I've been gone for a little while, but I'm back and I plan to keep the flow flowing, and the glow glowing.

Live your life like it's your last day on earth because you just never know.

PEACE, LOVE AND PASSION IS WHAT MAKES MY WORLD A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE.
